Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (TJOD) — President

2008–2012 · 2022–present

He has held executive positions since 2004 within the Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology — one of the largest professional bodies in obstetrics and gynaecology in Turkey — and served as its President.

Within TJOD he has worked on women's health policy, specialty training, the professional and personal rights of physicians, caesarean-section rates, the quality of pregnancy and birth services, patient safety, and the continuing professional development of obstetricians and gynaecologists.

Turkish Society of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery

He has served as President and as a member of the Board of Directors.

He has worked as an instructor and practitioner in national training activities, courses and surgical workshops in urogynaecology, pelvic floor surgery, urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

FIGO — International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics

Urogynaecology & Pelvic Surgery

A significant part of his career has been devoted to urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic reconstructive surgery in women.

In 1999 he received training in urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse at the University of Graz in Austria.

In Turkey he has served as an instructor and practitioner at numerous scientific meetings, courses and workshops in urogynaecological surgery.

His principal surgical interests include laparoscopic and vaginal prolapse surgery, apical prolapse surgery, sacrospinous fixation/hysteropexy, uterosacral suspension, laparoscopic lateral suspension and stress urinary incontinence surgery.

Robotic, Laparoscopic & Minimally Invasive Surgery

He has clinical experience in robotic and laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian surgery, endometriosis surgery, hysteroscopic surgery and advanced pelvic reconstructive surgery.

He has served as an instructor at national meetings and courses dedicated to training in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.

Academic & Teaching Activities

Throughout his nearly 30-year academic career at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, he has been involved in training medical students, residents in obstetrics and gynaecology, and young specialists.

During his tenure as Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Head of the Surgical Medical Sciences Division, he carried out administrative and academic work aimed at improving undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, specialty training, academic performance and clinical services.

He has chaired numerous sessions and served as a panellist, lecturer, surgical trainer and scientific presenter at national and international congresses.
