What is Infertility?

Couples that cannot become pregnant within one year despite a steady sex life and although they want a child are called infertile couples. There must be a problem that prevents these couples from falling pregnant. This problem must be researched and revealed first. Both the woman and the man must be assessed while researching the etiology.

This is because the etiological reason might be a pathology 40% of which might belong to the woman, 40% to the man and 20% to both the man and the woman. Etiological reasons might be more than one in 30% of the cases. Therefore, it might sometimes be insufficient to focus immediately on that pathology when a pathology is encountered in one of the spouses during the examination of infertile couples and try to treat it only. All examinations must be carried out on both spouses. The results of all examinations might turn out to be normal in 10% of all infertile couples. This group is called the unexplainable infertility group.  It is a reality that this rate will decrease further thanks to the developments in diagnostic procedures in parallel with the advancements in technology.
